Steady Progress on S19 Krosno – Miejsce Piastowe

Construction of the S19 expressway section between Krosno and Miejsce Piastowe, carried out by Aldesa Polska, has reached 60% completion. The project, part of the international Via Carpatia corridor, is moving forward at a steady pace thanks to favorable weather conditions and intensive work across multiple disciplines.

Progress Across All Work Areas

This 10.3 km section, with a contract value of PLN 365 million, is advancing on multiple fronts. Bridge construction is particularly advanced, currently standing at 70% completion. Work includes installation of sidewalks, safety barriers, asphalt layers, expansion joints, drainage systems, slope reinforcements, and finishing of retaining walls.

In terms of road works:

• Earthworks are 95% complete,
• Aggregate subbase is 70% done,
• Bituminous subbase is approximately 25% complete.

Paving works have begun on sidewalks and cycle paths along DK19, DK28, and other intersecting roads. At the same time, topsoil application and ditch reinforcement continue.

Technical Infrastructure and Retention Basins

Utility works are progressing steadily. Power and telecom network conflicts have been resolved, and the water supply, gas, and sanitary sewer systems have been installed. Drainage work is ongoing, along with installation of the technology duct and power supply systems. Street lighting construction also began during the winter.

Of the planned 16 retention basins, 10 are complete. Four are undergoing final finishing work, while the remaining two are still in the earthwork phase.

Construction of the Road Maintenance Facility is also advancing. The building’s structural shell is finished, and interior and installation works are now in progress.

Next Priorities

In the coming weeks, Aldesa Polska will focus on completing earthworks and continuing pavement layer construction. The next key stage will be laying asphalt on the main route and at the Krosno and Miejsce Piastowe interchanges. Bridge work will also continue, with finishing and equipment installation activities underway.

A key traffic switch is scheduled for May at bridge WS-1/6, allowing work to be completed both on the structure and its access roads.

The Krosno – Miejsce Piastowe segment of the S19 expressway is a vital part of the Via Carpatia corridor, connecting Central and Eastern Europe. The investment will significantly improve transport accessibility in the Podkarpackie region, enhance road safety, and reduce travel times—supporting local and regional economic growth.
